Long Island Ice Tea

$8.00

This design was intended to have sleeves, but I found myself wearing the half finished project around the house and loving it. Before long, I knew it was intended to be a vest, and it filled a hole in my wardrobe that I didn’t even know existed before now. I’m now a huge cardigan-vest fan.

With a loose comfortable fit, a cozy feel, and deep pockets, Long Island Iced Tea will quickly become a go-to garment for you as well!

The overall silhouette is long and loose in the body. The lines are simple and bold -- and the body, collar, and pocket ribs work together beautifully.

I find that a MCN such as Sweet Fiber’s gorgeous Cashmerino really wants to drape, and the colors that Melissa comes up with really shine in a simple texture, so this sweater lets the yarn do what it was meant to do.

Yarn: Sweet Fiber Cashmerino Worsted (80% SW merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 200yds/183m per 115g skein). Shown in the Tea Leaves colorway.

This is a good pattern for a yarn with a little drape, but if you are working with a substantially heavy or drapey yarn, allow for some growth and perhaps work a little less length than suggested. If substituting yarn, another hand dyed MCN in a worsted weight would give you the same feel, but this could also be beautiful in a solid or a tweed or a lovely farm yarn.

Gauge: 22sts, 28 rows/rnds per 4”/10cm in garter rib. 17-st collar is 2"/5cm wide, and pocket is 4"/10cm wide.
