Peach Bourbon Tea

$8.00

Introducing Peach Bourbon Tea, my Rhinebeck sweater for 2025!!

I designed this one to highlight the mix of subtle colors and texture that I expected to see when combining two different bases of beautiful hand-dyed fiber from A Verb For Keeping Warm.

The result is a mix of bold, elegant cables on a soft, lofty fabric.

Deeper texture comes from wrapped twists at center back and along each front, while more traditional cable columns are paired on either side of the body, and crossed in long swoops.

These provide a little contrast and lean into the delicate vibe of the fabric.

Sleeves feature the paired columns and end in loose, long cuffs. Instead of a separate hem, cables continue at the bottom of the body, and drop shoulder shaping allows the lines to remain long and uninterrupted.

Along the button band, a crisp line sets the thick ribbed band off from the body. And I love how the bottom button sits a bit higher than usual and the top two buttons are almost a "pair" at top.

Peach Bourbon Tea is knit from the bottom up, and simple panels under the arms and along the sides of the body make for easy modifications if you want to adjust the fit. Notes are in the pattern on altering the size or proportion in a number of ways.

Cable instructions are both charted and written.

Yarn:A Verb For Keeping Warm Flock (100% Rambouillet Wool, 290yds/265m per 50g/1.7oz) held with AVFKW Frond (72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk, 459yds/420m per 50g/1.7oz) Held double, this is equivalent to a DK weight single strand. Sample is shown in Lucky Penny Whorl on both Flock and Frond.

A DK, a round sport weight yarn, or another combination of fibers (held double) without much texture or variegation would work best for substitute yarn. I chose simple cables specifically show off this lightly variegated colorway, so a subtle speckle or naturally dyed yarn is OK here. Choose a fiber without too much drape or weight to prevent growth.

Gauge: In combined cable patterns, 26 sts/32 rows in 4”/10cm, measured across fabric. In 2x2 rib at both collar and button band, 24sts/32rows per 4”/10cm. Estimates based on final, blocked fabric.

Needles:US#6/4mm needles for body, button band and collar. US#5/3.75mm (one size smaller) for hem, cuffs and top of collar.

I suggest a long circular needle for body and button band and shorter needles for collar. Use any preferred method for small circumferences when working sleeves and cuffs in the round. Adjust needle size(s) to achieve gauge if needed.

Sizes: 38.5(42.5,46.5,50.5,54.5)(58.5,62.5,66.5)”

97.75(108,118,128.25,138.5)(148.5,158.75,169)cm

Sizes based on circumference around bust, worn closed in final, blocked fabric. For fit shown, choose a size that allows about 4”/10 cm positive ease at bust.

Yardage: 1350(1450,1550,1650,1750) (1900,2000,2100)yds

1235(1330,1420,1510,1605) (1740,1830,1925)m

Yardage above reflects a strand of yarn that meets gauge. If doubling yarn, you need the above yardage in each yarn used.

Estimates above include about 15% buffer, based on test knit feedback. Additional buffer is because test knit yardage in different yarns varied more than usual and I wanted to be safe.
