Hekla

Hekla is knit from the bottom up, in the round, and separated into front and back at armholes. Front and back pieces are then knit flat to shoulders. Shoulders are shaped with a gradual bind off. Sleeve stitches are picked up around seamed armholes and knit down to cuff in the round. Collar is picked up around neckline and worked upwards in the round.

Yarn: Ístex Léttlopi (100% Icelandic wool, 109yds/100m per 50g skein). Shown in Color A: #0057 Grey Heather, Color B: #0086 Light Beige Heather, Color C: #9426 Golden Heather.

If substituting, use a light, lofty wool without too much drape. Choose colors with enough contrast to allow the colorwork pattern to show.

Gauge: 16 sts/24 rnds = 4”/10cm in Stockinette and colorwork with larger needle. 18 sts/24 rnds = 4”/10cm in ribbing with smaller needle.

Needles: US#7/4.5mm, US#8/5mm

For fit shown, I suggest between 2-6”/5-10cm of positive ease.
