Ginjinha

$8.00

Ginjinha is all about the collar for me, as l've been wanting to play with this V-neck variation for a while. I love the modern vibe that a short boxy silhouette adds to this look, and think it's going to be an amazing summer tee in this beautiful lightweight fabric.

The lace I chose is delicate but very simple, and in this gorgeous heathered yarn it creates a subtle background for the top, allowing the small details here to stand out. The ribbed collar is visibly shaped within the ribbing, and the construction of the placket and collar take both form and function into account. Short sleeves, shaped shoulders, and a deep hem balance the proportions, and the result is an easy-wearing wardrobe staple.

The knitting here is simple and rhythmic, and this yarn is a dream to work with. It's light and round, and the natural heather and crisp texture within the wool highlight the wavy quality of the lace and the ribbed details in the collar beautifully.

As always, there are notes on how and where you can modify the shape of your sweater as needed. I've incorporated side panels into the design for easy fit modifications along the body. Sleeves can be adjusted as desired, and you can move your V-neck opening up or down if you prefer. Lace is both charted and written.

Yarn: Rosa Pomar Vovo (100% Portuguese wool, 156yds/143m per 1.75oz/50g skein). Color 06/Purple Rose.

If substituting yarn, swatch in pattern to check gauge, familiarize yourself with the lace motif, and to make sure the pattern shows up well in your yarn. Vovo is a light, delicate wool without too much drape or weight. The subtle heather allows the lines of the lace to show up beautifully. I do not suggest any yarn with pronounced color shifts or variegation or the detail would be lost. I also caution you against a fiber with a lot of drape or weight, which may behave differently when worn or lead to a collar that flops over more than intended.

Gauge: 3x3 rib at hem and lace pattern: 20 sts and 28 rounds/rows per 4”/10cm on US#7/4.5mm needle. 1x1 rib for collar: 23 sts and 32 rows on US#5/3.75mm, 22 sts and 30 rows on US#6/4mm needle. Gauges based on final blocked fabric.

Needles: US#7/4.5mm needles for body and sleeves. US#5/3.75 and US#6/4mm for collar, or sizes needed for gauges. I suggest long circulars for the body and shorter circulars to complete V-neck, collar and sleeves.

Sizes:

37.5(40.5,45,50,52.5)(55,59.5,64.5)”

95.25(102.75, 114.5,127,133.5)(139.75,151.25,163.75)cm

Sizes reflect circumference around bust, and are based on final fabric. Shown worn with about 4”/10cm positive ease.

Yardage:

800(850,950,1050,1150)(1300,1400,1500)yds

730(780,870,960,1050)(1190,1280,1370)m

Sport or DK weight non-superwash yarn suggested. Swatch in lace pattern and block to ensure gauge.
