Dubbel Dark

$8.00

Dubbel Dark is a top-down tee with a few special details.

Working in stockinette allowed me to pay some extra attention to fit, so I did a few subtle things to make this tee work exactly the way I want it to!

Stockinette also allowed one of my longtime favorite yarns to shine. Ultra Alpaca comes in such a stunning array of heathered shades, and the different colors in the fiber show up beautifully in smooth stitches. The wool and alpaca mix here adds a beautiful drape in a lightweight, wear-anywhere fabric.

And it knits up in no time on a US#8/5mm needle!

I couldn't resist adding something to take advantage of the stitch definition, adding just a bit of detail to the hem. Lace and ribbing make the tee a bit more interesting, with an easy, bold motif at bottom.

This pattern was a breeze to knit, fun to design, and flew off my needles in just a few days.

To be honest, it wasn't a planned part of my Fall lineup, but as l looked at my stash one day, the yarn jumped out to me, and I became obsessed with the idea of a simple, everyday kind of tee that was less rustic than some of my usual designs.

Between a few more detailed projects, was happy to have this to pick up, as stockinette is always a lovely break - and before l knew it, another design was added to the list!

Lace hem is both charted and written. As always, notes are included in the pattern on ways to modify this design for fit.

Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca (50% super fine alpaca, 50% Peruvian wool, 219yds/200m per 3.5oz/100g skein). Shown in the 6211, Duncan colorway.

If substituting yarn, choose a fiber that knits to pattern gauge in a fabric that you like the drape and feel of. Swatch in both stockinette and lace to check gauge and to be sure the lace shows up in your yarn. This is an easy sweater in which to play with multiple strands if you like an extra halo or subtle heathered effect.

Gauge: 16 stitches and 24 rounds/rows in 4”/10cm. Gauge based on final, blocked fabric in stockinette on larger needle, lace hem on smaller needle.

Needles: US#8/5mm needles, or size to get gauge. I recommend long circulars for body and preferred method for small circumferences on sleeves and neckline. Optional US#7/4.5mm smaller needles for lace hem if required to maintain gauge.
